We love any reason to take a break from burgers and grilled chicken and grill up a juicy steak. Contrary to popular belief, grilling steak is actually way easier than other meats. All you need are a couple of handy tips, a hot outdoor grill (or indoor grill pan!), and your favorite cut. Check out our top grilling tips and get to it! We promise, it's not as intimidating as it seems.
Everyone has their favorite type, so we've got tips for how to grill every cut of steak. Our all-time favorite cut for grilling? The ribeye. Ribeyes are thick and beautiful, with the ideal amount of marbling of fat (aka flavor!) that doesn’t even need a marinade. No matter which you choose, each steak typically will require 4 to 6 minutes per side for that perfect medium-rare result. Though it might seem tempting to cut right into your steak, please let all cuts rest at least 10 minutes to allow the meat to seal in all those glorious juices. And if you've ever wondered how to get that deliciously crispy exterior, it couldn't be easier than seasoning each side with, yes, a thick blanket of kosher salt and black pepper.
We also love any opportunity to experiment with different marinades and toppings if you'd rather go beyond salt and pepper. Butter is hands-down our favorite topper for grilled steak, especially when it means we can make a fun, herby garlic chive butter or cowboy butter. Tangy soy sauce also lends itself to the richness of steak and is our secret weapon for marinating our teriyaki steak, beef and broccoli kebabs, and Cajun butter steak.

Flank Steak Marinade
Our simple marinade has just four ingredients and is the perfect way to prep sometimes tough flank steak for the grill. While acidic citrus juice and salty soy sauce act to both season and tenderize the steak, olive oil helps to keep the meat supple and juicy. A small amount of brown sugar brings out the meat's natural sweetness and helps to create a slightly caramelized crust once the steak hits the grill. Yum!
